Who We Are

The Interdepartmental Spectroscopy Network brings together researchers, with a wide range of instruments, from three departments of the Science Area at the University of Milan Bicocca: Materials Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Biotechnology and Biosciences. The idea for this “networking” initiative among spectroscopists emerged from their joint participation in a 2021 University research project. This collaboration made it possible to recognize the affinities and complementarities of the knowledge developed over the years and to transform the idea into a tangible network. In this network, each participant maintains their professional identity while benefiting from mutual enrichment through the sharing of experiences and expertise.
The Network aims to be a space for exchange among its members and is also open to external collaborations, first and foremost with other departments within the University, as a reference point for spectroscopy. It is also open to companies, research consortia, and private individuals in need of spectroscopic analyses for the characterization, design, or improvement of their samples.

How We Are Organized

The members of the network have organised themselves with three team leaders (Professors Adele Sassella, Roberto Lorenzi and Dr. Luisa Raimondo), a dedicated technician (Dr. Giovanna Calatozzolo) and currently 17 members from the three departments.
