The Interdepartmental Spectroscopy Network brings together researchers, with a wide range of instruments, from three departments of the Science Area at the University of Milan Bicocca: Materials Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Biotechnology and Biosciences

WHAT IS SPECTROSCOPY

Optical spectroscopy studies the interaction of matter with electromagnetic radiation across a broad range of wavelengths. The electromagnetic spectrum is, in fact, a continuum that is conventionally divided into several regions

SERVICES

The Spectroscopy Network of the University of Milano-Bicocca offers a large collection of high-level instrumentation and an extensive expertise developed over the years by the research groups of the Network. These distinctive features enable the Network to meet a wide range of analysis

Spectroscopy allows for the characterization of materials by investigating various properties, depending on the spectral range of the radiation used as a probe. The electromagnetic spectrum is conventionally divided into intervals, each corresponding to different types of interaction. Spectroscopic techniques are classified according to the spectral range and the type of response they measure and analyse.
